Brain Injury
A brain injury can cause difficulties in both cognitive and physical function. Our experienced OT team assess and support people who have sustained a change in their ability to participate in their typical roles and activities due to a brain injury. We collaborate with you to provide the treatment required to improve functional abilities as well as adapt the environment and provide adaptive equipment if required. Understanding what you need to do and want to do across your day provides the focus to rebuild your capacity and resume your valued life activities.
We offer the following services in your home, community and place of work:
Education related to your specific type of brain injury for yourself, your family and friends
Treatment in the areas of self-care, leisure, meaningful work, and independent living which may include adaptive equipment to support your maximal independence
Restorative and compensatory strategies to support your thinking – how you plan, organize, initiate, attend to and remember your tasks across the day
Evidence based approaches to emotional dysregulation and mood changes that may be affecting your life and your relationships with others
Structured physical activity programs to rebuild your strength and endurance for the physical demands of your life often supported by a rehabilitation aide
Modifications to your home and work environments to support your optimal functioning
